Barf bags should be immediately available at the front desk. I told them I felt like I was going to barf and by the time someone WENT to find them I was already barfing in the bathroom. Thank goodness it was empty or I would have barfed on the carpet in front of everyone. Although I did spy a wastebasket lined with a plastic bag.

Really professional team and very pleasant to interact with. While surgery is never fun, this was an overall positive experience.

The staff and doctor were great.I have two suggestions.1) The nurse attempted 3 times to put my IV in (2 x in hand, 1x in arm). The IV hurt so much that I knew it wasn't put in correctly. I did tell the nursing staff multiple times that it hurt too much for the iv to be put in correctly. They checked the iv and said everything was fine. They also put warm blankets on my arm. While the nursing staff asked if I wanted another iv placement I declined because I thought I was going into surgery right away - which ended up not being the case. So I was in pain for 45 minutes due to the iv.2) It was my first colonoscopy. I was told by accident that my colonoscopy was going to be delayed. Another nurse mentioned that the previous surgery was taking longer than expected and asked if my nurse had mentioned that to me. Which she hadn't. After that nurse left, I was in the pre-surgery room, by myself for 40 with not one person coming to check on me. With my first time as a colonoscopy patient (I had delayed having a colonoscopy done because it was so invasive) and with the IV hurting a lot I pushed the nurses call button because I thought at the very least I could ask if my husband could be with me since I was starting to have a panic attack (which I don't ever have). The doctor just happen to come into the room at the same time that the nurse did to answer my call button - the doctor told me they were ready for me and the nurse went and got another blanket for me before I went into surgery. Again, the staff were great when they were there but my experience was not good for my first colonoscopy. In fact, If they hadn't found several polyps, I know I would not have gone back in the future for any more colonoscopy's.Btw, my arm bruised around where the IV had been placed in my arm.
