A collaborative approach to the evaluation and treatment of Heartburn and Swallowing disorders such as GERD, heartburn and Eosinophilic Esophagitis (EOE).

MNGI Digestive Health has made a commitment to provide premier care to patients in need of gastroenterology services.  In 2008, MNGI Digestive Health opened a specialty clinic designed specifically for patients with heartburn/acid reflux disease and swallowing disorders. An estimated 61 million Americans - or 44 percent of the U.S. adult population - have heartburn symptoms at least once a month. Of these, almost half have acid reflux disease, which is also known as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). The patients that are scheduled for care in the Esophageal Clinics are seen at our Plymouth location.

The Esophageal Clinic offers a collaborative approach to the evaluation and treatment of Heartburn & Swallowing disorders such as GERD, heartburn and Eosinophilic Esophagitis (EOE). It is staffed by physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants with special interest and training in the evaluation and treatment of heartburn and swallowing disorders, working together with a team approach to patient care. In addition, our state-of-the-art center provides specialized testing and treatment that is not widely available in the Twin Cities, such as the BRAVO capsule and high resolution esophageal manometry. In addition, counseling, dietary support, patient education and lifestyle training are an important part of clinic services.

Collaboration

The MNGI providers also work collaboratively with surgeons who also have special interest and expertise in treating patients with esophageal disorders. Patients are actively engaged in their evaluation and treatment plan.

Research

The Esophageal specialty clinic regularly participates in national and international research to study new methods to treat GERD and related conditions. Because of this, our patients are some of the first to access cutting edge therapies and medications.
