Dr. Ibrahim Hanouneh leads our Clinical Research Team, which includes experienced gastroenterologists, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, research coordinators, and research assistants dedicated to conducting studies safely and ethically.
We conduct research studies for a variety of gastrointestinal (GI) conditions to help improve treatments, patient care, and quality of life. Patients who participate in clinical research at MNGI receive regular medical care and are closely monitored throughout the study.
What is a Clinical Study?
A clinical study is research that helps doctors learn more about health conditions, treatments, medical devices, and procedures.
One type of clinical study is called a clinical trial. Clinical trials involve volunteers who participate in carefully planned studies to evaluate new treatments, medications, devices, or procedures. These studies help researchers determine whether new approaches are safe and effective.
Why Do People Participate in Clinical Research?
People choose to participate in clinical research for many reasons. Some may gain access to new treatments that are not yet widely available. Others participate to help improve medical care for future patients.
Participants also work closely with experienced healthcare professionals throughout the study process.
Who Can Participate?
Each clinical trial has specific guidelines that determine who may qualify to participate. Qualifications may include factors such as age, medical history, symptoms, current medications, or previous treatments.
Most clinical research studies at MNGI require participants to be 18 years or older unless the study is specifically designed for pediatric patients.
