Important Information for Patient Who Use THC/Marijuana

Do not use anything containing marijuana or THC on the day of your procedure. If you do, your procedure will be cancelled.

 

Important Information for Patient Who Take GLP-1 Agonists or SGLT-2 Inhibitors 

If you take a medication for diabetes or weight loss known as a GLP-1 agonist or SGLT-2 Inhibitors, you should hold this medication according to the instructions below before your procedure. If you take these medications for diabetes, then you need to contact your primary care team or endocrinologist for glucose management instructions.

GLP-1 Agonists

Once or twice daily Injectable GLP-1 agonists: Hold the day before the procedure and day of the procedure

•            Exenatide (Byetta®)

•            Liraglutide (Victoza® or Saxenda®)

Once weekly injectables : Hold 7 days before the procedure

•             Dulaglutide (Trulicity®)

•             Exenatide extended-release (Bydureon®).

•             Semaglutide injection (Ozempic® or Wegovy®

•             Tirzepatide (Mounjaro®)

Oral Semaglutide: Hold 7 days before the procedure

•             Semaglutide tablets (Rybelsus®)

SGLT-2 Inhibitors (Invokana, Farxiga, Jardiance, Steglatro): Hold for 4 days before the procedure.

You should start a clear liquid diet 24 hours before your procedure. This may be different from what your procedure prep instructions say. For example, if your procedure is at 8:00 AM, then you should start a clear liquid diet at 8:00 AM the day before. Make sure to follow the NPO instructions (nothing by mouth 3 hours before your procedure). Holding these medications and staying on the clear liquid is important for us to safely complete your procedure.
