The standard prep using MiraLAX + Gatorade is one of our easiest and most affordable options, even for those who have had weight loss surgery or diabetes. If you are interested in an alternative prescription prep, you can learn more on our website and call our office to speak with a nurse and discuss. Please note, prescription preps can be expensive and may not be covered by insurance. We recommend checking with your insurance company or visiting GoodRx.com to compare costs.
Please refer to your prep instructions for additional information regarding blood thinners and GLP-1/SGLT-2 medications, as they may need to be held prior to your procedure. Chewable tablets should not be taken the day of your procedure, but all other daily medications (such as blood pressure, pain medications/narcotics, seizure medications, etc.) may be taken up until 3 hours before your procedure (6 hours if you are having an EUS, EMR, ERCP, ESD, POEM or an EGD w/ double balloon procedure).
You must have a responsible person with you on the day of your procedure. They should stay on-site and be available to take you home after your procedure. It’s okay to take an Uber or Taxi, but only if a responsible person is with you at check-in, stays available during your procedure, and accompanies you home.
