Ying Gibbens, MD, PhD

Experience
Dr. Gibbens completed her fellowship in general gastroenterology at the University of Minnesota. Prior to her medical training, she completed her PhD in molecular biology and genetics. She strives to apply her deep understanding of molecular and genetic pathways towards providing individualized medical care to her patients. Dr. Gibbens joined MNGI Digestive Health in 2025.

Dr. Gibbens has published many peer reviewed research articles in high impact GI journals. She was the recipient of the American College of Gastroenterology outstanding poster award and the Rein in Sarcoma scholarship. She also graduated with distinctions and honors from medical school and is a member of Alpha Omega Alpha, a prestigious medical honor society.

Personal Interests
Dr. Gibbens enjoys many outdoor activities including running, biking and hiking. During the winter months, indoor rock climbing and cardio kickboxing are her favorite. She also loves to visit national parks and historic sites around the world with her family.
